‘Bleeding Heart’ is a one of a kind pressed flower artwork (frame size 20x20cm), created using Gerbera petals. Handmade by me in The Netherlands using petals collected from my garden. 

My design draws inspiration from a particular quote in "Carmilla", a vampire story which predates Bram Stoker's "Dracula" by 25 years.

‘Bleeding Heart’ is a unique pressed petal artwork made using Gerbera flower petals in shades of red, orange and yellow.

The Story Behind the Design:
While many people are familiar with Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” published in 1897, the lesser-known story of the female vampire “Carmilla,” published in 1872 and written by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, predates Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ by 25 years! Even this story isn’t the first vampire story...there are a whole lot more even before “Carmilla”.

My design draws inspiration from a particular quote in "Carmilla":

“If your dear heart is wounded, my wild heart bleeds with yours.”

About the Process:
🌸 The pressed gerbera petals are mounted on cotton rag paper, featuring intricate cutout designs that allow the petals to peek through. Gerbera petals lend themselves perfectly to pressing, and the color palette for this design combines striking reds, warm oranges, and vibrant yellows. The artwork is presented with a passe-partout and is available both framed and unframed.

Packaging

All of the mailing boxes we use can be re-used or recycled.

Tissue paper and stickers can either be recycled or even composted. The tissue paper is logo free so feel free to re-use it for another gift.

Glassine bags can be re-used.

Embroidery & Art

The items we make are intended to last a long time, so that you can enjoy them for many years.

All pictures are mounted on cotton rag paper, and our instruction booklets are made from combinations of recycled materials, FSC certified paper, or by-products of other processes.

Gift Wrap & Fabric

Gift wrap paper is printed on recycled paper using vegetable oils. Ribbon is washable and re-usable.

The fabric bags are either made from leftover fabric from other projects or printed to order using water-based inks.
