A hand stitched embroidery featuring the Amanita muscaria, also known as the Fly agaric mushroom. This vibrant embroidery piece showcases this well-known mushroom, with its bright red cap and white spots, in a woodland setting. Finished with the lush green of feathery fern fronds.

Against the black fabric, these colours really pop!

Finished on the back with wool felt, the embroidery has been framed and is ready to hang. The finished embroidery measures 12cm (diameter), and the outer frame edge measures 13.5cm (diameter).

See the 'more details' section below for more information about this little mushroom.

More Details

Amanita muscaria, also known as the Fly agaric mushroom. With a rich historical background and the subject of much folklore, it is one of the most recognisable mushrooms in the woodland.

Used in rituals, used as insecticide and legend has it that Viking warriors ingested the mushroom before battle to inhibit fear! How likely that is, I don't know, but it is a toxic hallucinogen for humans...so don't eat any!

Typically found in woodlands underneath birch, pine and oak trees, its appearance is straight out of a fairytale. Easy to spot with its cap that turns from white to orange and red as it matures, dotted with distinctive white spots.
